Castream 1.4 — Better Stability, Better Control, Better Streams
Castream 1.4 is here, and it focuses on one thing: making every stream feel smoother, more reliable, and more professional. This update introduces major improvements across camera performance, connection stability, and user experience, giving creators more control with less friction.
Multi-Lens Support
Castream now takes full advantage of every available camera on your device.
Whether you’re using ultra-wide, wide, or telephoto, you can switch seamlessly between lenses with natural, smooth transitions. Zoom behavior is refined to feel consistent and intuitive across all devices.
Automatic Bitrate
Your network conditions change. Now your bitrate adapts with them.
Castream 1.4 introduces automatic bitrate mode — it analyzes your current connection quality and selects the safest, most stable bitrate in real time. The result: more resilient streams and fewer interruptions without manual tuning.
Tap-to-Focus & Exposure Lock
You can now tap anywhere on the preview to instantly refocus.
Long-press to lock focus and exposure for more challenging lighting or fast-moving subjects.
This gives streamers better creative control, especially in dynamic environments.
Stability & Reliability Improvements
We made targeted updates across the camera, encoder, and lifecycle systems to eliminate the most common sources of interruptions:
- Camera no longer loses state when switching lenses
- Returning from background no longer breaks the preview
- Encoder sessions handle lifecycle changes more predictably
- Internal recovery routines help keep the pipeline stable even when the device is busy or low on resources
These improvements don’t make streams connect faster, but they make them connect more consistently.
In-App Support
You can now send feedback directly within the app.
Each submission includes optional notes plus metadata like device details, bitrate choices, and stream information — helping us respond more accurately. On our end, everything syncs directly into Slack for real-time visibility.
Landscape UI Polish
The landscape experience has been refined for a cleaner, more predictable feel during live streams. Button placement, spacing, and layout behavior have all been improved to match the way creators actually use the app.
Other Improvements
- Better handling of lens transitions
- More consistent zoom gestures
- UI refinements across the Go Live screen
- General performance improvements on a wide range of devices
A More Reliable Castream
Castream 1.4 is our most reliable release yet. With smarter adaptation, better camera controls, and deeper stability work, this update brings us another step closer to delivering the best mobile-first streaming experience anywhere.
If you have feedback, the new in-app support panel is the fastest way to share — we read every message.
